Our Background

Established in the late 1970’s, our kennel primarily focused on competitive obedience and field work, producing several dogs with CD’s, CDX’s and UD legs. These dogs also earned different levels of field titles from Junior Hunt Tests, WC/WCX events and NAHRA tests (‘Casey’, CD - Will Judy Award candidatefrom Novice A, Bronzeleaf’s Truckee, CDX, WC, NAHRA Std., UD legs). Early in the 1980’s we incorporated conformation in our pursuit of producing a truly multi-purpose Champion quality Golden by the acquisition of a new puppy, Tess.

Within 6 years, our foundation bitch, Tess (Ch. Bonanza’s Blue Berryessa, CD, JH, WCX, OD), became a true multipurpose girl, owner-trained and handled, and then herself produced many Champions, Best in Show winners and Sporting Group Winners. Tess is behind all of the litters we produce. She was a Top Ten bitch in conformation during the 1980’s with several Group placements and Show Dog Hall of Fame points. She competed in all 3 venues (conformation, obedience, field) simultaneously, sometimes during the same weekend and the same show. She won both a High in Trial obedience award at the Norcal Golden Retriever Specialty and Best of Opposite Sex. She was awarded Best Puppy in Show plus earned her WC at the Western Regional Specialty. Tess, in 4 litters, produced Ch. Bronzeleaf Amador Bret Maverick, CD, WC, Ch. Amador Bronzeleaf Desperado (Group Winner), Ch. Bronzeleaf’s Always Ina Rush, Ch. Bronzeleaf Sunsong Blue Skys, Am. Can. & Mex. BIS Ch. Bronzeleaf’s Came A Cavalier (SHOF), Ch. Bronzeleaf’s Gold Fever, Can. Ch. Bronzeleaf Phantom of Chigal (Group Winner), Int. Ch. Bronzeleaf’s Knight Rider, and several other Can. Mex. and Int. Ch.’s., several also carrying obedience titles.

In the generations following, we have produced Ch. Bronzeleaf Sun Song Blues, Ch. Bronzeleaf’s A’Capella (multi-Group placing bitch), Ch. Bronzeleaf Rosa Alexander and Ch. Bronzeleaf’s Diamond Lil plus many others currently working on their championships. All of the Ch. Dogs here have won Winner’s Dog or Bitch (majors) at Golden Retriever Specialties and/or have won Best of Winners or Best of Opposite Sex once or multiple times at Specialties.

Philosophy

Our goal has been to produce quality dogs with sound health backgrounds and proper temperament using research and high quality control. We breed only OFA hip/elbow cleared, eyes certified (CERF annually) and heart (cardiologist) certified dogs. Pups go to their new homes with health warranties, dew claws removed, first shots, well socialized and partially potty trained. An Owner’s Manual is included with instructions to continue potty training and puppies needs through adulthood. For those interested in acquiring show/breeding potential pups, an additional manual is included which has information with additional guidance in producing competitive show, field & obedience dogs and the use of handlers.
